When Canva is the better choice
- You want to finish the video in one place. Canva’s page describes adding the cleaned-up video to its video templates, then adding subtitles, filters or speed changes in its online editor. CutoutClip cannot trim, caption or edit.
- You want a ready-made scene. Canva says you can put the subject on one of its video templates or on an image from its media library. CutoutClip supports colors, your own image and blur, not video or templates.
- You already pay for Canva Pro. Canva lists the remover on Pro, so if you have it, the tool is already part of your plan.
When CutoutClip is the better choice
- You only need the transparent file. Upload, wait, download. No account and no project. See before/after samples.
- You want to edit elsewhere. Get a transparent WebM, or a MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha (first 60 seconds) for Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut. See transparent video.
- You want to pay per video. Longer clips cost $4.99 per video up to 2 minutes, with no subscription and an automatic full refund if processing fails. See pricing.
- You want other formats. After processing, pick an alpha matte, green screen MP4, a solid color, your own image, a blurred background or a transparent GIF.
- Privacy matters. Files are deleted 24 hours after upload, or immediately with “Delete now”. There is no public gallery.
CutoutClip works best on people, with one person in focus. Clips with several people or partly out-of-focus people can fail, so check the samples first. Safari cannot display WebM transparency, though the file is still transparent.
How to get a transparent video with CutoutClip

- Download the transparent WebM at the original resolution and frame rate, with the original audio.
- Optional: open “More formats” for ProRes 4444, green screen, a color or image background, blur, or a GIF.
