Safari may show a black background in this preview; the downloaded WebM keeps the transparency.
Files are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload.
Where a transparent WebM works
| Where | Transparency | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome, Edge, Firefox | Yes | Plays with transparency in a <video> element. |
| Web pages | Yes | <video src="cutout.webm" autoplay muted loop playsinline> over any background. |
| OBS Studio | Yes | Add as a Media Source. |
| Safari | No | Shows a black background for VP9 alpha. |
Why not MP4?
H.264 MP4 has no alpha channel, so it cannot store transparency. Tools that export “transparent MP4” actually put the person on a solid color. WebM with VP9 alpha is the common web format that keeps transparency in a small file.
