When CapCut is the better choice
- You want to edit the whole video. CapCut is an all-in-one editor, so you can add text, stickers and effects after the background is gone. CutoutClip cannot trim, caption or edit.
- You need a video as the new background. CapCut lets you place a solid color, an image or another video behind the subject. CutoutClip supports colors, your own image and blur, not video.
- You want manual chroma key controls. CapCut lets you pick the key color for green or blue screen footage. CutoutClip removes green screens automatically but has no key settings to adjust.
- You want to fix edges by hand. CapCut offers brushes and precision tools for refining a cutout.
- You work on a phone or want an app. CapCut is available on smartphone and PC; CutoutClip is browser only.
- Your file is not MP4 or MOV. CapCut Desktop lists AVI and WMV as supported too.
When CutoutClip is the better choice
- You only need the transparent file. Upload, wait, download. No project, timeline or account. See before/after samples.
- You want to edit elsewhere. Get a transparent WebM, or a MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha (first 60 seconds) for Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut. See transparent video.
- You want a one-time price. Longer clips cost $4.99 per video up to 2 minutes, with no subscription and an automatic full refund if processing fails. See pricing.
- You want a quick alternative format. After processing, pick an alpha matte, green screen MP4, solid color, your own image, a blurred background or a transparent GIF.
- Privacy matters. Files are deleted 24 hours after upload, or immediately with “Delete now”. There is no public gallery.
CutoutClip works best on people: talking heads, presenters, dancers, hands and hair, with one person in focus. Clips with several people or partly out-of-focus people can fail, so check the samples first. Safari cannot display WebM transparency, though the file is still transparent.
How to get a transparent video with CutoutClip
