When Kapwing is the better choice

When CutoutClip is the better choice

CutoutClip works best on people with one person in focus. Clips with several people or partly out-of-focus people can fail, so check the samples first. Safari cannot display WebM transparency, though the file is still transparent.

How to get a transparent video with CutoutClip

  1. Upload an MP4 or MOV (up to 100 MB). Free clips can be up to 10 seconds.
  2. Wait for processing, about 20 to 30 seconds for a 10-second 1080p clip.
  3. Download the transparent WebM at the original resolution and frame rate, with the original audio.
  4. Optional: open “More formats” for ProRes 4444, green screen, a color or image background, blur, or a GIF.
  5. Import the file into Kapwing or any other editor and keep working.
