When VEED is the better choice
- You want to remove the background and keep editing in the same place: trim, add subtitles, lower thirds, and clean up audio noise.
- You want to put a stock-footage, branded or AI-generated background behind the person, including a video background. CutoutClip cannot use a video as the new background.
- Your footage is already shot on a green screen and you want to remove it with a toggle.
- You work in a team or regularly produce edited videos and a subscription fits your workflow.
When CutoutClip is the better choice
- You just need the transparent file to take into Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut or a web page, without learning an editor.
- You do not want an account or a subscription. Free clips up to 10 seconds have no watermark; longer videos (up to 2 minutes) cost $4.99 once, with an automatic full refund if processing fails.
- You need editor-ready formats: ProRes 4444 with alpha (first 60 seconds), an alpha matte, or a transparent GIF. See transparent video and transparent GIF.
- You want files deleted after 24 hours, or immediately with Delete now, and no public gallery.
CutoutClip works best on one person in focus (talking heads, presenters, dancers, hands, hair). Several people or partly out-of-focus people can fail; check the before and after samples first. Input is MP4 or MOV up to 100 MB, and Safari cannot display WebM transparency (the file is still transparent).
How to get a transparent video with CutoutClip
- Upload an MP4 or MOV (up to 100 MB). No account needed.
- Wait about 20 to 30 seconds for a 10-second 1080p clip.
- Download the transparent WebM at original resolution and frame rate, with the original audio.
- Optional: open More formats for ProRes 4444, green screen, a color or image background, a blurred background, or a GIF.
