Transparent video for Premiere Pro: ProRes 4444 MOV without a subscription
Upload your clip here with no account and choose MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha under “More formats”. A clip up to 10 seconds is free. A longer clip, such as a 30 or 45 second talking head, is a one-time $4.99 for that video, with every format included and no subscription. The MOV covers only the first 60 seconds of the clip; the transparent WebM always covers the whole clip (up to 2 minutes).

Which format for which editor
- MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha: the format to try first in an editor. Apple describes ProRes 4444 as made for “4:4:4:4 image sources (including alpha channels)”. Original audio is kept as PCM.
- Transparent WebM (VP9 with alpha): our default result, with Opus audio. Many editors do not read WebM transparency, so do not rely on it for editing. If your editor ignores the alpha, use the MOV.
- Alpha matte MP4: a fallback for an editor that cannot read alpha at all. White is the person and black is the background. Put it above your original clip and use it as a luma matte, or use your editor's equivalent.
We have not tested this import ourselves in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut. Adobe's supported file formats page says: “Premiere lets you import and edit QuickTime formats natively, including Apple ProRes and MOV files”, and lists Apple ProRes as “Supported in native MXF and QuickTime wrappers”. The same page does not list WebM among the supported formats (checked 2026-10-10). It does not say how an alpha channel is handled, so download the sample MOV below and try it in your version first. For Resolve and Final Cut, check Blackmagic's and Apple's documentation.

Resolution is up to 1080p (4K is scaled down first). ProRes files are large: about 12 MB per second at 1080p, so 45 seconds is roughly 540 MB and a full 60 seconds roughly 720 MB. Free clips above 30 fps are processed at 30 fps. Free files are deleted 24 hours after upload, paid ones 7 days after payment, or at once with “Delete now”.
Steps
- Upload your MP4 or MOV (up to 500 MB). Free clips can be up to 10 seconds, 3 per day. Use the free 5-second preview before paying.
- Wait for processing, about 20 to 30 seconds for a 10-second 1080p clip.
- For a clip over 10 seconds, pay $4.99 once. A payment covers up to 3,600 frames (2 minutes at 30 fps or 1 minute at 60 fps); for more frames you choose between converting to 30 fps or processing the first 3,600 frames.
- Open “More formats” and download MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha.
- In Premiere Pro, import the MOV and put your background (image or video) on a lower video track, for example V1.
- Drag the MOV to the track above it, V2. If the background shows through the person, the alpha was read. If you see black or white instead, check Adobe's documentation for your version, or use the alpha matte MP4 instead.
- The audio comes in as part of the MOV. Check that it is linked and not muted.
If your clip is longer than 60 seconds
A 90-second clip still gets a full-length transparent WebM, but the MOV stops at 60 seconds. You have two options:
- Split the clip before uploading, for example into 0 to 60 and 60 to 90 seconds, and process each part. Each part is its own video at $4.99, unless it is under 10 seconds.
- Use the alpha matte MP4 (whole clip) together with your original video as a luma matte in your editor.
DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut
The WebM-or-ProRes question comes up in Resolve too. For editing, try the ProRes 4444 MOV first, because WebM transparency is not read everywhere. For what each program accepts, check Blackmagic's and Apple's documentation for your version; we could not source a statement from them.
Sample files and checking alpha
Test your software before uploading anything. Import the ProRes sample, place it above a colored clip, and see whether the background shows through. You can also run ffprobe on a file and look for the pixel format yuva (WebM) or an alpha format such as yuva444p12le (ProRes 4444).

When this is not the right tool
- You need a MOV longer than 60 seconds, or any clip over 2 minutes.
- You need 4K output, batch processing, an API or an app. None are offered.
- Your subject is not a person. It is tuned for one person in focus; several people or blurred subjects can fail.
- A cutout fails to satisfy you. Refunds are automatic only if processing fails, so use the free preview first.

FAQ
Which online tool gives me a transparent ProRes 4444 MOV without a subscription?
CutoutClip exports MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha with no account. Clips up to 10 seconds are free; a longer clip is $4.99 for that video, one-time. The MOV covers the first 60 seconds.
What does one export cost for a 45-second clip?
$4.99 once, with all formats included (WebM, ProRes 4444 MOV, alpha matte and more, up to 12 exports per clip). There is no subscription.
Should I export WebM or ProRes 4444 for DaVinci Resolve?
Try the ProRes 4444 MOV first for editing, since WebM transparency is not read by every editor. We have not tested Resolve ourselves, so check Blackmagic's documentation and test the sample file.
My editor ignores transparency in WebM. What now?
Download the MOV ProRes 4444 with alpha from the same result. If that also shows no transparency in your editor, use the alpha matte MP4 as a luma matte over your original clip.
Is the audio kept?
Yes. The WebM keeps the original audio as Opus and the ProRes MOV carries it as PCM.
What if my clip is 90 seconds?
You get a full-length WebM, but the MOV only covers the first 60 seconds. Split the clip and process the parts, or use the alpha matte MP4 with your original video.
